About Glock 17

The Glock 17 is a striker-fired, recoil-operated, semi automatic pistol developed by Glock Ges.m.b.H., a well-known Austrian firearms producer. Even though the G17 was introduced way back in 1985, the pistol still ranks among the most popular civilian and service handguns ever produced.

The Glock 17 is chambered for the 9x19mm Parabellum, one of the most popular and affordable handgun cartridges. Just like the pistol’s name suggests, the G17 comes with a double stack magazine that holds 17+1 rounds of the 9mm caliber. Similarly to other Glock pistols, the model 17 is also fully made of polymer. The Glock 17 comes with fixed, white dot front and white square U rear sights.

As the G17 is a relatively big gun, it’s more ideal for open carry. The overall length of the Glock 17 is 8.03’’ and the pistol’s barrel is 4.49 inch long. These dimensions make the Glock 17 a full-sized handgun, which means it’s not the best concealed carry option. However, if the pistol is paired up with a custom made holster, its concealment stops being an issue.
